The research and development for products with better design and higher quality is now a dominant factor of competition among many industries. This trend is supported by the introduction and successful implementation of modern computer technologies for product design. The high quality and technologically advanced products and services are the end result of integration of a series of processes and functions which are present in every enterprise, e.g. research, design, manufacture, maintenance, marketing etc. Computer Aided Design (CAD) Laboratory of IIET, Dharmaj is developed with a view to train students to manage and execute the integration of all these different components.
FLUID MECHANICS laboratory has various facilities to conduct various experiments like pressure measurement, Metacentric Height, the flow of water in a tapering circular duct, fluid flow velocity, co-efficient of discharge using Venturimeter and Orifice meter, to study Laminar and Turbulent Flow, and Fluid friction factor and loss coefficients for the given pipes.

Heat Transfer laboratory provides fundamental and industrial knowledge about modes of heat transfer, like conduction, convection and radiation, and their application. Heat Transfer Lab consists of the following equipments. Pin Fin Apparatus: This setup is designed to study the heat transfer in a pin fin. It consists of cylindrical fin fitted to the base in rectangular duct. A blower is provided on one side of duct to conduct experiments under forced convection heat transfer mode. Five thermocouples are embedded along the axis of the cylindrical fin at five different locations and one thermocouple placed in the air stream at the exit of the test section to measure the outlet air temperature. Digital Temperature Indicator is provided to read temperatures distribution along the fin. Test pipe is connected to the delivery side of the blower along with the Orifice to measure flow of air through the pipe. A heater heats one end of fin and heat flows to another end. Heat input to the heater is given through variac. Students will be expected to develop the following skills/understanding upon the successful completion of this experiment.
The Internal Combustion Laboratory has facility to conduct different tests like performance test, brake power, Measurement of friction power by Willan’s Line Method and Morse Test, plotting the valve timing diagram, etc on different I.C. engines. To check the quality of exhaust gases coming out of an I.C. engine, an exhaust gas analyzer and a smoke meter is like (HC, CO and NOx) emission available in the laboratory.
The equipments that form the I.C. Engines Laboratory are:
- Four stroke, single cylinder petrol engine
- Four stroke, single cylinder diesel engine
- Exhaust gas analyzer for analysis of exhaust gases of a S.I. engine
- Smoke meter for exhaust gas analysis of a C.I. engine
- Two stroke, single cylinder diesel engine
Machine design involves the study of concept of stress analysis, Theories of failure and Material science to analyze, design Machine component. More over it include how the static and dynamic strength parameters for a material are measured in standardized tests, Concept of factor of safety stress and deflection major parameter to design Machine element like shaft , Anti-friction bearing, Couplings and Gear.

Metrology and measurements constitute an important element in all laboratories for conducting experiments and for all types of control processes in the industrial activities. This lab provides the students an active learning environment for the measurement technologies used in production engineering field. Students use the laboratory to collect and analyze measurement data, evaluate measurement methodologies, and learn the capabilities and limitations of measurement technologies. Mechanical Measurement & Metrology Laboratory has facility to introduce Linear Measurements, Angular and Taper Measurements, Screw Thread Measurements, Gear Measurements, Measurement of Surface Finish, Straightness, Flatness, Square ness, Parallelism and Machine Tool Tests, Basic Concepts of Measurements, Temperature Measurement and Miscellaneous Measurement.

Now a day, the lower temperature requirements are an important part of our human life. From domestic level to industrial sector, there is a huge requirement of refrigeration as well as air conditioning equipments. The applications are wide, such as food/medicine preservation, human comfort, liquidefication of gases, manufacturing etc. So it is important thing to learn the concept behind this phenomenon. This lab includes various tutors, which is able to perform the experimentation to clear the idea about the same. Right now, Vapor compression system is quite popular in refrigeration as well as air conditioning equipments. In the lab, there is an availability of one refrigeration tutor based on VCR principle, one air conditioning tutor perform various types air conditioning systems like winter/summer/year round. Also there is a forced draught cooling tower apparatus, which gives the clear idea about direct contact heat exchanger. So, behalf of that, we able to study those low temperature concepts, which required for improving the system performance.
Dynamics lab helps to study the behaviors of various machines, equipments and structures in real system due to the kinematic and dynamic forces acting on a body. The experiments help students to understand and engineer real-time mechanical engineering problem.
The lab has various models to demonstrate the important concepts of Kinematics of Machines. Besides these, equipments necessary for providing practical understanding of the important concepts of balancing of machine parts, vibrations in machine parts,

Mechanical Engineering Workshop is a place where students acquire knowledge on the operation of various processes involved in manufacturing and production. The Workshop Practice course makes students competent in handling practical work in engineering environment.
Various Labs of the subjects like Manufacturing Processes-I, Manufacturing Processes-II, Production Technology etc. is also conducted in the workshop.
Mechanical Engineering Workshop is also involved in different maintenance/repair works for campus.
